The House on Thursday approved a 2 percent raise for civilian federal employees in 2010, equal to the raise proposed by President Barack Obama but less than the 2.9 percent raise being considered in the Senate. Both the House and Senate versions of the Defense authorization bill give military members a 3.4 percent raise.
The House approved the raise as part of the $24.15 billion fiscal 2010 spending bill for financial services and general government, HR 3170, which it passed 219-208.
